the\u00a0romance\u00a0scam\u00a0is months in the making.\u00a0It\u00a0may start\u00a0with\u00a0the victim meeting the\u00a0scammer on\u00a0a dating site.\u00a0To evade the dating site\u2019s safeguards, the scammer\u00a0quickly convinces\u00a0their victim to move to another\u00a0communication method such\u00a0as WhatsApp or Telegram.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">They will tell their\u00a0victim\u00a0to keep their communications a\u00a0secret. They will follow with rapid declarations of love.\u00a0The\u00a0scammer\u00a0promises\u00a0to visit\u00a0or videochat but\u00a0always\u00a0comes\u00a0up with\u00a0an excuse for
