For <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/hammerle.com\/legaltalk\/estate-planning\/parent-child-relationship-lasts-for-eternity\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">parents<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, here are some camp tips.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Check if the Summer Camp is Licensed<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">All Texas summer and day camps must be licensed each year after fulfilling state guidelines found in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/statutes.capitol.texas.gov\/Docs\/HS\/htm\/HS.141.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Texas Health and Safety Code Ch. 141<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Camps must provide each camper with safe, healthy conditions, facilities, and equipment free from known hazards that could cause injury. To be sure your kid\u2019s camp is licensed and in good standing, just look them up by searching the web for \u201cTexas youth camp license.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Carefully Read the Camp Waiver<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Licensed camps have a duty under the law to provide a safe environment and activities, you likely signed a waiver before your child left for camp. That waiver probably states you assume responsibility for injuries while your child is at camp. Be careful because they are filled to the brim with legalese that tilts toward protecting the camp. Even after signing a waiver, the camp could be <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/hammerle.com\/legaltalk\/legal-talk\/what-are-the-different-types-of-compensatory-damages\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">responsible<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> if they were negligent by breaching a duty such as failing to provide a safe environment and activities noted above.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Review the Summer Camp\u2019s Handbook<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take the time to read the camp\u2019s handbook. It functions like a guardrail to keep your camper safe by explaining the rules of the road. It will explain the conduct rules, camp policies, emergency contact numbers, and descriptions of the activities at camp.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prepare for a Fun-Filled Summer<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Knowing the rules of the road and encouraging your camper to follow them will help ensure they have a fun and safe summer camp.
