Texas Certified Private Professional Guardian
Courtney Carey has over 22 years of experience in guardianship services, case management, mental health crisis and continuity of care, Medicaid waiver programs, as well as working with individuals and their families who have a diagnosis of intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. She established and managed the guardianship program for Denton County MHMR, supervising 5 certified private guardians and numerous support staff.
Courtney became a Texas Certified Guardian in 2015 and became an active member of the Texas Guardianship Association. In 2021 Courtney was elected to the TGA board by her peers across the state, where she is also the chair for the conference committee, which educates family, private professional guardians, attorneys, and court staff on guardianship matters for the state of Texas. She has been deeply involved in guardianships from all aspects – creation, management and winding-up. She has extensive experience in providing social services to seniors and adults with disabilities.
